Welcome to Pack 52!

Cub Scout Pack 52 is made up of girls and boys from Kindergarten to 5th grade students attending Del Rey Elementary school in Orinda, CA.  Our pack has been in formation for over 50 years!  The site includes announcements about upcoming meetings, pack news, a calendar of upcoming events and a place to share great photos of our pack in action.

2026 Pinewood Derby

Weigh-In: The weigh-in will occur at our pack meeting on Wednesday.  Please bring your car with you to the meeting.  We can add weights at that time; the pack will supply stick-on steel weights, or you are welcome to use your own.  We can also supply the graphite wheel lubrication.

While the dens are each holding den meetings and working on their adventures, we will call up each den one at a time to turn in their cars.

Help us out by registering your car name in advance: Register your car here!

We will also take a photo for your drivers license at the weight-in (if we didn't get your photo at the workshop).

 

Race Day: The race is next Saturday (21st) from 10am- about 12:30pm.  

Estimated Race Times:

10:00-10:15 Welcome and National Anthem

10:15-10:35 Arrow of Light, Webelos, Bears Heats

10:35-11:00 Wolves, Tigers, Lions Heats

11:00-11:10 Friends and Family

11:10-11:30 Voting for Funniest and Most Creative cars

11:30-12:00 Finals

12:00-12:30 Award Ceremony and Pizza

Pinewood Derby Trophies

Thank you to everyone who voted on this year's extra Pinewood Derby trophies. 

The three extra trophies that will be handed out this year are:

-Most Creative

-Funniest

-Most fuel-efficient (slowest) *To be eligible for this award, the car must finish each of its races without interfering with other cars.  I understand this is a popular award in some other packs with people competing to build the slowest car.

As a reminder, each den's top three fastest cars will get 1st, 2nd and 3rd place medals. There will also be trophies given to the fastest three cars of the whole pack. 

Hornet Overnight Date Options

The original date (March 7th) for the Hornet Overnight did not get ten attendees so I'm offering alternative dates. 
 
Please complete the new form below and be sure to mark all dates that you are available. We will select the date that has the most responses (provided we get at least 10 people to sign up).

Mistletoe Results!

We raised $836 for the pack, meeting our goal of $800.  
 
Thank you to the Arrow of Lights that harvested, the Webelos that packaged, and everyone else who sold. 
 
Since we reached our goal, we will not have a second sales day next weekend.

Scouting For Food: Part 2

Scouting for Food Part Two will be held this Saturday, rain or shine.  We will meet at 9 am at Del Rey for a brief safety talk and to form new groups with scouts who did not attend Part One. Then we will head out into our assigned sections.

Each group will need a driver who can slowly drive along while the bags of food are collected and placed in the trunk.  You can use a wagon and collect on foot, but wagons can fill up, so a car is recommended.  Collections will be brought back to Del Rey.
